Els poemes que formen part de La Tempesta s'organitzen en vuit seccions, que ens porten a recórrer paisatges vells i nous en la poesia de l'autor. Destaquen, sobretot, les proses poètiques, d'una potència extraordinària, i els llargs poemes narratius, que Roig fins ara no havia conreat, en què pren vida un món poètic en plenitud, enriquit per l'experiència brasilera del poeta. A més, La tempesta conté també elements d'homenatge a Rainer Maria Rilke i, com el títol fa evident, a William Shakespeare.
