Afortunadamente ahora llega el optimismo, por fin siempre aparece una prostituta de nombre comestible (Honey Barbara, en este caso) para sacar del Averno a los ejecutivos bondadosos y espantadizos. Hay mil puertas para huir de la locura y de la pasma, al mismo tiempo. Y una puerta que a lo mejor conduce al paraíso de los bosques. Bendito Harry es una novela extremadamente moderna en su capacidad de sátira y en la sardónica negrura de su humor, pero con la fuerza y las peripecias del mito más antiguo. Con ella empezó a ganarse Peter Carey el puesto que ya disfruta entre los grandes novelistas australianos de la actualidad. Sus títulos siguientes (Oscar y Lucinda, El embaucador y La inspectora de tributos, todos ellos publicados en Alfaguara) han confirmado el acierto inicial.
