Este libro presenta una historia analítica y exhaustiva de la gran editorial Gustavo Gili, concretamente de las obras de ciencia y técnica de su catálogo publicadas durante el franquismo. No obstante, el lector encontrará en sus páginas una historia poco convencional, una historia cultural que analiza a la editorial a través de sus publicaciones y de cómo estas se fueron gestando a manos de los agentes implicados en su confección durante las diferentes fases de producción, promoción y venta. De todo ello da cuenta este trabajo que sitúa a la ciencia en el papel y se adentra en cuestiones sobre la recepción y la lectura del libro técnico en la España franquista. Este libro presenta una historia cultural de la editorial Gustavo Gili. Una investigación rigurosa que se ha nutrido de los amplios fondos del archivo de la Biblioteca de Catalunya y con los que su autor ha conseguido conformar una historia distinta. El resultado es un relato redactado no como una historia al uso, sino construido a través de las obras de ciencia y técnica de la editorial, de cómo estas se fueron gestando y modificando en sus diferentes fases de producción, promoción y venta. Se trata, en resumen, de una investigación novedosa y poco convencional que indaga en la forma en que los textos científicos fueron producidos desde la práctica editorial desplegada bajo un régimen dictatorial. Otros temas como la figura del científico como autor o la construcción de la autoridad científica en la España franquista serán, sin duda, elementos transversales que harán de esta obra un libro de interés para historiadores, científicos y profesionales del mundo editorial.
