EL ÚLTIMO GRAN TESORO FOTOGRÁFICO DE LA GUERRA CIVIL Ocultas en el fondo de una casa de Sant Cugat del Vallès (Barcelona) a punto de ser derribada aparecen dos cajas rojas. ¿Qué habrá en su interior? Un descubrimiento totalmente inesperado: más de 5.000 fotografías que Antoni Campañà Bandranas (1906-1989) tomó durante los tres años de la Guerra Civil. Un enorme friso de la vida en guerra de uno de los grandes fotógrafos pictorialistas del país se despliega ante nosotros. Republicano, catalanista y católico practicante, Campañà retrata una realidad trágica y contradictoria, rica en matices, con contrastes a menudo dolorosos. Desde arcos de iglesias víctimas de la iconoclastia revolucionaria hasta retratos de ácratas tan atractivos que los propios anarquistas acabaron usándolos para hacer postales. Desde protestas por la falta de alimentos delante de la Pedrera de Gaudí hasta soldados del Tercer Reich desfilando por la Diagonal. Acabada la tempestad, Campañà enterró sus fotografías. No quiso que nadie las viera, pero no las destruyó. Un fotógrafo no puede renunciar a lo que sus ojos han visto e interpretado. ¿Para quién era aquel testimonio? Hoy, afortunadamente, es para todos nosotros. El reportero Plàcid Garcia-Planas, el historiador Arnau Gonzàlez i Vilalta y el fotógrafo David Ramos han trabajado con este legado inabarcable para presentar la mejor selección y colocar a Campañà en el lugar de honor que le corresponde.
