Aquesta traducció posa per primera vegada a disposició d’un públic ampli el text del Tractat dels Pirineus en català. Tres-cents cinquanta anys després de la signatura del Tractat dels Pirineus, encara no existia cap traducció d’aquest document al català. El text a partir del qual s’ha traduït el Tractat no és únic, ja que se’n van fer moltes versions impreses diferents. La tria d’aquesta edició s’ha dut a terme segons els continguts, l’any i la qualitat de la redacció. El llibre inclou una presentació d’Òscar Jané en la qual s’expliquen les causes del Tractat —situant Catalunya en els moments importants de les negociacions— i el que realment va representar el Tractat en l’època, tant les conseqüències que comportà com la simbologia que prengué. El Tractat dels Pirineus (o Pau dels Pirineus), signat el 9 de novembre de 1659 entre França i Espanya, posà fi a vint-i-quatre anys de guerra oberta entre les dues monarquies. Les primeres conseqüències del Tractat per a Catalunya van ser les pèrdues territorials i l’intent de minvar el poder institucional de què disposava. El Rosselló, el Capcir, el Conflent, el Vallespir i trenta-tres pobles de la Cerdanya van quedar sota la sobirania francesa.

Esta publicación presenta una selección importante de las colecciones de pintura y escultura del Ministerio de Agricultura y Pesca, Alimentación y Medio Ambiente, que tiene un precedente en el ?Catálogo Artístico de los Ministerios de Fomento y Medio Ambiente? cuando ambas instituciones formaron, hasta 1996, un único ministerio. La larga historia del Ministerio justifica que gran parte de las colecciones sean del siglo XIX, aunque la procedencia de otras obras haga que esa cronología se remonte hasta los siglos XVII y XVIII, como consecuencia de las fuentes de ingreso ligadas a instituciones dependientes del Ministerio como fue, principalmente, el Instituto Nacional de Colonización. Para la realización de esta publicación se ha contado con especialistas en pintura y escultura del Museo Nacional del Prado y del Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, asimismo, la edición, coordinada por Francisco de Santos, conservador de las colecciones del Ministerio, ha conseguido aunar la contribución de los mejores especialistas en cada materia con una visión didáctica que contextualiza las obras con referencias de colecciones en otras instituciones.

Este Primer volumen sobre la historia de Villarta de los montes, cubre todo el periodo que se extiende desde la prehistoria al siglo XVII. su autor ha buceado en archivos y bibliotecas, desentrañando los orígenes de este pueblo. Un libro de investigación histórica, riguroso, que se documenta con una amplia bibliografía. El lector encontrará en él respuesta a cómo vivieron los primeros villateños, tanto en su ámbito más terrenal como en sus creencias religiosas, el origen de sus edificios, los enclaves más emblemáticos, la vida social y política, así como las costumbres de sus habitantes.
