LA CORRESPONDŽNCIA EPISTOLAR DE LA FAM’LIA BURGUŽS (1750-1850) (ANT—N PELAYO, JAVIER) (Historia)

L'any 2005 vaig publicar La sociabilitat epistolar de la família Burguès de Girona (1799-1803), un llibre on s'analitzava l'epistolari personal de Martí de Burguès, un militar que culminà la seva carrera amb el grau de tinent i que formava part d'una família de la baixa noblesa catalana que tenia el casal principal al carrer de la Força de la ciutat de Girona. El seu epistolari va aparèixer, inopinadament, a l'Arxiu de la Catedral de Girona, en dos lligalls diferents que formaven part de la secció de correspondència, encara sense classificar. D'aquell fons s'editaren 205 cartes quasi la totalitat de l'epistolari, les quals havien estat adreçades en la seva majoria a Martí de Burguès entre el novembre del 1799 i el març del 1803 per 67 corresponsals diferents. D'entre els remitents, onze formaven part del seu cercle familiar més proper i la resta eren amics, coneguts i buròcrates que residien sobretot a Barcelona i Madrid. Un temps després de la publicació de l'estudi i edició del fons epistolar de Martí de Burguès, vaig tenir notícia de l'existència a la Biblioteca Nacional de Catalunya del fons «Sambola-Burguès», que recull part de l'arxiu patrimonial de la família Burguès. La documentació que es conserva dels Burguès va quedar integrada, a finals del segle XIX, per via de matrimoni, amb la dels Sambola, una família d'apotecaris i comerciants establerta també a Girona. D'entre tot el material documental, en destaca la correspondència, la qual serveix per completar la història d'una família i d'uns individus que en van formar part, alguns dels quals van assolir una certa significació pública. La correspondència epistolar del fons «Sambola-Burguès» augmenta significativament els actors i dóna cita a nous testimonis. Si La sociabilitat epistolar es nodria de la correspondència personal que Martí de Burguès va rebre durant un període curt de temps, un excel·lent material per a la reconstrucció d'una xarxa egocentrada, aquesta obra recull i interpreta les cartes de la casa Burguès durant un segle, un material que ofereix la possibilitat d'aprofundir en l'evolució d'una família de manera paral·lela al curs dels esdeveniments històrics generals. Però les cartes de la família Burguès també ofereixen una oportunitat per humanitzar una casta social la dels cavallers i hisendats que, en el cas de la regió de Girona, han estat objecte d'estudis molt valuosos i precisos des del punt de vista econòmic i sociològic. Al costat de la gestió dels seus patrimonis, els grans propietaris tutelaven una família extensa al voltant de la qual desplegaven una vida privada que participava d'unes determinades pautes de comportament, passions i intimitats que poques vegades queden tan ben reflectides com en la correspondència.

El objetivo principal del Seminario Internacional Literatura y Espiritualidad y de las Actas que de sus resultados publicamos es posibilitar y potenciar el estudio compartido de la literatura que nace del anhelo y disposición humana de establecer una relación espiritual con lo divino. Espiritualidad, un concepto cómodo y genérico por englobar el de ascética y mística y por sus posibilidades de apertura y exploración del ser humano en el misterio de su existencia y encuentro trascendente con lo sagrado. Ni el tiempo, ni el espacio, ni la confesionalidad determinan la exclusividad sobre la espiritualidad, que es universal como lo es el Amor al que aspira. Así, los estudios de literatura espiritual aquí reunidos son heterogéneos porque responden y están determinados por distintos asedios particulares, homenaje a la universalidad de la experiencia y también a su actualidad, aun discurriendo o no en el presente al margen de las vías religiosas tradicionales. Los autores que los firman revisan y actualizan saberes de distintas corrientes espirituales y de escritores que las ejemplifican y comunican su propio mensaje más allá de la diversidad de las lenguas y de las limitaciones del lenguaje, paradójicamente, ocupándose de él en su expresión literaria.
