SEMILLA DEL SON . CRÓNICA DE UN HECHIZO (AUSERÓN, SANTIAGO)

De parecido modo a como refiere Homero en la Odisea al dar noticia del irreprimible deseo que apodérase de Ulises embriagarse con los cantos de las sirenas, no es menos cierto que pocos son los que se resisten al embrujador encanto del acervo musical de Cuba; trasunto «afrocañí» de la Isla de las Sirenas por cuyas entrañas fluyen y confluyen tantas tradiciones musicales de ultramar. A la manera del maestro Alan Lomax legendario etnomusicólogo, y sabedor de la importancia de tan necesario empeño, mas sin ánimo de sentar cátedra y sí, tal vez, presa de un genuino impromptu que traería causa de su larvada afición a la música antillana, emprende nuestro autor esta suerte de misión arqueológica que tiene como fin reunir y preservar en una antología discográfica (Semilla del son, editada en suelo patrio en 1992) cuanto a duras penas conservábase en archivos malhadados por el paso del tiempo y el azote de las inclemencias climatológicas propias de esas latitudes. De tan noble empeño emergería aquel breve compendio discográfico con el que se pretendía trazar un esbozo genealógico y reivindicativo del sustrato musical del son en sus más diversas formulaciones. Del cómo y el por qué de aquella apresurada antología acaso no hubo tiempo entonces para reposar y consignar todo lo atesorado y experimentado en dichos lances. De ahí esta maravillosa y sentida crónica de las peripecias, encuentros, recuerdos y aventuras vividos durante aquellos iniciáticos periplos que incitan a la comprensión cabal, trascendental o apocalíptica de tan singulares hallazgos y que cristalizaría en una primera y breve autoedición en 2017 que no llegó a comercializarse ni, por ende, a nuestras librerías y ve, por fin, la luz aquí en edición ampliada, revisada e ilustrada. Nigromantes, exégetas, forenses, musicólogos y otros intrépidos buhoneros trataron, con desigual suerte, de apropiarse de cuando no lucrarse con la autoría del presunto redescubrimiento de ciertos tesoros fonográficos y de hacerse con el patrocinio de ese talento inaprensible con el que aliviar su desaliento. Ry Cooder, Ned Sublette o David Byrne no fueron ajenos a la fiebre del coro formado por tan singular reparto de cazatalentos. Sea como fuere, en el caso de las páginas que siguen, convendrá el lector que las motivaciones que dieron alas a esta iniciativa fueron de naturaleza bien distinta
