LA HISTORIA DE LOS JESUITAS EN JAPÓN (TAKIZAWA, OSAMI)

En este libro se presenta una síntesis novedosa de los grandes hitos de la evangelización en Japón. Se relatan en él los orígenes de la labor evangelizadora de los misioneros católicos, se muestra la expansión en el archipiélago, y se describen las primeras persecuciones, para terminar en la progresiva eliminación del cristianismo en durante los siglos XVI y XVII, que llevó a su total desaparición. Los libros escritos sobre este tema en España, aunque son de gran calidad técnica, se han elaborado teniendo en cuenta los datos recogidos en los manuscritos y documentos conservados en España, por lo tanto adolecen de una visión sobre la situación del Japón de la época. Con el objetivo de superar estos inconvenientes, en este libro se reflejan las últimas tendencias de la historiografía japonesa, aportando datos y conclusiones fiables sobre la labor de los misioneros en Japón. Se incluyen así hechos que todavía no se han difundido con detalle en lenguas occidentales. Al haberse combinado, de manera equilibrada, los datos de la historiografía española y japonesa, se abre una nueva perspectiva, relacionada con la política exterior, en la investigación de la Historia Moderna de España.
