Explicar l’evangeli als nens i nenes, sigui en l’homilia de la missa o sigui com a explicació quan se’ls separa de l’assemblea per a la Litúrgia de la Paraula, és una de les tasques importants a realitzar per part dels capellans, diaques o catequistes. Perquè aprendre, en aquesta edat primera, a descobrir Jesús i omplir-se de la riquesa de la seva paraula i de la seva vida és un camí immillorable perquè la fe creixi sòlida i ben arrelada. Aquest llibre és una oferta de materials per facilitar aquesta homilia o explicació, per a tots els diumenges i festes del cicle C; uns materials que han estat preparats per deu autors diferents, cada un des del seu propi estil i experiència, cosa que sens dubte contribueix a enriquir el conjunt. Per a cada un dels dies, es presenten uns punts que ajuden a aprofundir en el text i apropar-lo als infants, i després s’ofereix també una breu homilia ja redactada, no per a ser utilitzada directament, sinó per ajudar a concretar les idees. El llibre fon en un sol volum dos lliuraments parcials publicats a «ATCA», 28 (2009), 455-612, i «ATCA», 29 (2010), 9-880. Els resultats d’aquells dos lliuraments han estat revisats. Si el 2010 es tenia notícia fidedigna de 217 manuscrits de l’obra d’Eiximenis (13?- 1409), el volum en presenta ara 219. Un segon volum d’índexs completarà i farà manejable el catàleg. Publicat cent anys després del catàleg de Massó i Torrents, el volum posa a disposició de l’estudiós d’Eiximenis una panoràmica del tots els manuscrits de les seves obres originals en català i en llatí, de dues refoses d’obres originals, de les traduccions d’alguna de les seves obres catalanes (Llibre dels àngels, Llibre de les dones, Vida de Jesucrist) al llatí, al francès, al castellà, àdhuc la d’una seva obra llatina (Psalterium laudatorium) al català, i les obres atribuïdes. També ha estat aplegada la bibliografia sobre els textos manuscrits d’Eiximenis que els autors han conegut i que han considerat pertinent per a l’estudi crític de la transmissió del text i dels continguts de l’obra d’aquest prolífic i original escriptor medieval català.
