«WELL…WHAT DID THE DOCTOR SAY?» (FERGUSON, JAMES V.)
A collection of essays from my Knoxville Focus newspaper column, "The Doctor Is In." I write for joy rather than an assignment, because my real job is practicing internal medicine and geriatrics. These essays were often prompted by patients' stories shared with me over forty years of medical care. The essays are in no particular order. I've tried to mix humorous stories with others focused on science, medicine, history, philosophy, spirituality, art, travel, and yes, some politics. Each essay can be read in five minutes, just long enough for one sitting - however, two stories might occasionally be necessary. And if you find that three are required, you might need to consult your doctor! I hope you enjoy the stories as much as I did crafting them.

La consecució d'una formació lingüística per a tots els escolars constitueix un dels reptes principals a què s'enfronta l'educació obligatòria. El context de contacte de llengües i la demanda social respecte del coneixement de l'anglès són la causa de la presència d'un mínim de tres llengües als currículums de les administracions educatives dels territoris de parla catalana. Amb el temps, la dificultat de gestionar aquesta realitat ha fet créixer la creen‡a que si les accions individuals de cada mestre no es duen a terme en el marc d'una planificació global de la formació lingüística i no es plantegen des d'una perspectiva de collaboració entre tots els membres del claustre, difícilment s'aconseguiran els resultats desitjats.
