James Lyle Whitmer is a retired FBI Special Agent. He has been married to Vicki for 35 years and has two daughters, Jessica and Lindsey. He has a B.A. from Lewis University in Chemistry, an M.S. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Notre Dame, an M.S. in Criminal Justice from Saint Leo University and a J.D. from Chicago Kent College of Law. He is a licensed attorney in Illinois and practices in the areas of Criminal Law and DCFS Defense. Besides writing, his avocation is Sports Officiating, where he is a licensed sports official with the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) in five sports. Presently, he is the Program Director for Law and Legal Studies at Northwestern College in Bridgeview, Illinois. Mr. Whitmer melds his vast personal experience in the criminal justice and legal fields with his knowledge of forensic science and the psychology of evil and criminal behavior in developing storylines that take the reader on a journey to the edge of the Abyss between Heaven and Hell where outcomes are oftentimes confused and unexpected.
