Un nou model no s’improvisa i haurà de partir de les tradicionals fortaleses dels nostres empresaris i empresàries.Ells i elles hauran de liderar un canvi on hauran de prendre decisions estratègiques sobre la innovació a les empreses, la internacionalització de l’activitat i la responsabilitat ètica de les seues accions. No obstant això, un canvi de model productiu és un repte extraordinari, on la societat valenciana ha d’estar al costat dels seus empresaris. Com? Principalment educant persones preparades per al nou escenari, possibilitant el crèdit i el finançament per a dinamitzar la iniciativa empresarial i construint infraestructures eficients que ens acosten amb avantatges als nostres mercats. L’empresa valenciana s’ha mostrat històricament dinàmica davant les dificultats que ha patit (absència de recursos naturals, manca d’infraestructures, etc.). Així, la «via valenciana» s’ha materialitzat en una forma singular de fer empresa, dotada amb uns trets característics que tradicionalment han generat benestar per a la nostra societat (mitjançant l’obertura als mercats exteriors, l’emprenedoria, els clústers industrials, etc.). No obstant això, l’economia valenciana ha sigut invisible com a objecte d’estudi fins fa unes poques dècades. El present duu nous escenaris postcrisi on la globalització, les TIC, el canvi climàtic, els països emergents o els nous riscos geopolítics han evidenciat la pèrdua dels nostres avantatges competitius tradicionals. Un present delicat, no únicament a causa de la crisi, ja que nombrosos motors que impulsaven la nostra economia han desaparegut o s’han tornat molt febles. Així, la profunda transformació del nostre model productiu requereix un diagnòstic rigorós i un plantejament clar de les alternatives adequades per a fer front als nombrosos reptes que tenim. En aquest context, l’obra que teniu a les mans pretén —modestament— inspirar una visió empresarial de país al voltant d’un programa possible i desitjable. Sobre les bases de la nostra tradició empresarial, el nostre capital humà i la nostra capacitat emprenedora, el repte és reinventar un nou model productiu.
