LA SUSPENSIÓN POLÍTICA DE LA ÉTICA

Mirada abarcadora y aguda a la modernidad, que recorre los diversos proyectos críticos y políticos del último siglo -el stalinismo, el nazismo, Levinas, Habermas, Adorno, Agamben o Balibar, entre otros- para cuestionar las diversas aristas del capitalismo global: el multiculturalismo, la corrección política, los fundamentalismos, los derechos humanos, el antisemitismo, entre otros temas, son discutidos desde todos sus ángulos.

UTOPIA. EL ESTADO PERFECTO

Utopía, obra maestra de la literatura, fue escrita en latín en Lovaina (1516) por el gran humanista inglés Tomás Moro (Thomas More), dilecto amigo de Erasmo y a la sazón Lord Canciller de Inglaterra. No sabemos cuáles fueron las motivaciones reales del autor, pero sabemos que en un momento de inactividad forzada se distrajo pintando la imagen del Estado ideal perfecto: Utopía. Para ello eligió una forma estilística humanística: el diálogo. En él expone, por boca del portugués Hitlodeo, una crítica feroz a la sociedad inglesa de su tiempo, al influjo de las ideas platónicas (La República) y la visión de los florecientes municipios de los Países Bajos. De esta manera surge un nuevo género literario: la idea de construir en el plano intelectual la imagen de una República perfecta, del Estado Modelo, pero también con la plena convicción de que esto es algo imposible. El Estado perfecto solo puede existir en ninguna parte, que es lo que significa utopía en griego, una isla donde los ríos son Anhidros (sin agua) y los príncipes Ademos (sin pueblo).
