La carn. Cos i sexualitat a l'edat mitjana és un recorregut de caire antropològic per diferents aspectes de la complexa cultura medieval sobre el cos i la sexualitat. A través de fonts historiogràfiques i literàries, l'autor mostra com el cos (la seva representació i la seva vivència) és un camp de batalla de les contradiccions i els conflictes culturals i ideològics. Fins ara, la sexualitat a l'edat mitjana havia estat un tema que només s'havia abordat de manera estrictament acadèmica. La visió que en fa Toldrà és molt més lúdica, no s'està d'abocar-la pel broc gros, i en resulta un llibre que alhora que satisfarà els historiadors per la rigorositat, resulta tremendament atractiu per al gran públic. En definitiva, una obra innovadora, divertida i agosarada que mostra com és possible combinar l'estudi històric amb la voluntat de mostrar una època tal com fou, en què el cos era la mesura de les coses i els actes i les paraules mostraven una sexualitat genital i transgressora, sovint lliure i alegre.





En el segundo volumen de la obra de Las Casas se incluyen el "Libro segundo" que narra la historia de América de 1501 a 1511: desde el encarcelamiento de Cristóbal Colón en Castilla hasta la llegada de Diego Colón, y el "Libro tercero" que abarca de 1511 a 1520.
