Un valuós estudi sobre el notariat medieval català, aquest llibre és la transcripció d’un registre dels notaris públics de Barcelona que foren examinats a la cort del veguer entre 1348 i 1385. Els documents aporten referències a 67 notaris i en ells veiem el procés d’examinació que portava a aquests personatges a convertir-se en dipositaris de la fe pública. La seva importància encara és més gran, perquè és la única font barcelonina d’aquest tipus per tot el període medieval.
