La figura del bandolero en la literatura es madrugadora, ha cambiado en concordancia con los tiempos y al menos desde el siglo XVI está transida de estereotipos, entre los que predomina la imagen del personaje justiciero y generoso. Estudiar la figura del bandolero en la literatura equivale a servirse de una metodología versátil y ecléctica que permita abordar los textos literarios sin olvidar los contextos históricos, sociales, antropológicos, jurídicos o imagológicos. De ahí que la exégesis del bandolero en textos literarios deba tener muy en cuenta la diacronía y la sincronía. La autora ha cumplido con esos requisitos.
