Este último libro de la colección La lucha contra el olvido, trata de sacar a la luz unos lugares, tan desconocidos por los españoles, como las islas que componen el Archipiélago de Las Marianas, a pesar de haber ondeado en ellas nuestra bandera durante más de trescientos años. Los cuatro primeros capítulos nos describen la situación geográfica de Las Marianas y sus características orográficas y demográficas más destacables, así como una lista de los principales navegantes que las visitaron entre 1521 y 1840, continuando con una descripción de las diferentes expediciones que llevaron a su descubrimiento y posterior evangelización y colonización, sin olvidar a los principales personajes de la historia. Los seis capítulos siguientes están dedicados íntegramente a las biografías de los siguientes médicos militares: Marcelino Andrés Altarriba, Francisco Carmona Humanes, Gonzalo Armendáriz y Castaño, Casto López-Brea, Pedro Saura Coronas y José Romero Aguilar, que llevaron a cabo importantes misiones sanitarias en un medio hostil, sin contar con apenas medios salieron victoriosos a costa de enormes esfuerzos y cuya labor castrense no siempre ha sido suficientemente valorada.
