A través de fuentes documentales se reconstruyen formas de construcción, materiales, artífices, distribución de las viviendas, mobiliario, ajuares domésticos; y una relación de tipos de viviendas: ranchos, casas pequeñas y principales, callejones, chacras, quintas, ...

EL DISEÑO INVISIBLE . SIETE LECCIONES SOBRE LA INTERVENCIÓN CULTA EN EL HÁBITAT HUMANO (CHAVES, NORBERTO)

La segunda mitad del siglo XX ha sido testigo de un viraje importante en la práctica de la arquitectura, marcado por el agotamiento de la propuesta humanista del Movimiento Moderno y la eclosión de la Arquitectura del Espectáculo como respuesta al programa del marketing urbano y el mercado del entertainment. El resultado material de ese proceso está a la vista: el deplorable espectáculo de las zonas urbanas crecidas en ese período. Pero un subproducto más alarmante ha sido el desvanecimiento del concepto mismo de arquitectura, que ha dejado a las actuales generaciones de estudiantes presas del equívoco universal que confunde cultura con pasatiempo y arquitectura con diversión formal. En este contexto problemático se inscriben las siete lecciones reunidas en este libro. Se trata de las clases inaugurales y de clausura que dio Norberto Chaves en un Master de la Escuela Superior Técnica de Arquitectura del Vallés (Universidad Politécnica de Cataluña), y cuyo objetivo fue pensar la situación actual de la práctica del diseño desde una perspectiva cultural más que estrictamente profesional. Los textos conservan el tono coloquial de origen y también su orientación didáctica, mediante anécdotas y ejemplos que buscan garantizar la claridad y un estilo ágil que recurre tanto al humor y al comentario irónico como a la observación polémica.

The Fundació Mies van der Rohe organises a series of debates and lectures entitled Coup de Dés that provide an opportunity to discuss some of the most significant architecture being produced today, with the objective of offering a wide panorama of current architectural practice. The debates are generated by the presentation of various projects. Each presentation is followed by a dialogue between the architect and a critic who proposes an interpretation of the project and raises related questions. The Coup de Dés forms part of the GAUDI project sponsored by the Culture 2000 programme of the European Union.
