Volem retre un merescut homenatge a una persona molt il·lustre del nostre Pirineu que, encara que fos d'un tarannà humil i senzill, desenvolupà una gran tasca cultural i demostrà sempre un gran amor per la seva llengua i la seva terra. Aquest llibre intenta perpetuar-ne la memòria. La seva labor cultural fou multidisciplinària. Aquí, però, després de presentar la persona, la seva trajectòria i activitats en unes simples dades biogràfiques, i la valoració global de la seva personalitat, en l'edició d'una entrevista que li feren, ens centrarem només en dues de les seves facetes culturals més notables: el poeta i el músic... EL MAR NEGRO . LA CUNA DE LA CIVILIZACIÓN Y LA BARBARIE (ASCHERSON, NEAL)

Neal Ascherson reúne la condición de historiador y arqueólogo con la de corresponsal y periodista. Como experto en la región del mar Negro, nos invita a acompañarle en su expedición por esta zona prácticamente desconocida, pero no menos fundamental en la historia y el nacimiento de nuestra cultura, cruce de Oriente y Occidente, cuna de civilizaciones y también de la barbarie. Siguiendo un itinerario que, en dirección noreste, va rodeando este extraño mar interior, El mar Negro abarca cronológicamente desde la época de Heródoto hasta Yeltsin, desde el siglo VII a.Cy la expedición de los argonautas en busca del Vellocino de Oro, hasta la última década del siglo XX y la caída de los estados comunistas. Ascherson, en su recorrido, va revelando así al lector, como si de un libro de viajes se tratara, los numerosos secretos de una región en la que, como los Balcanes, los conflictos parecen sempiternos, y en la que comparten mar países tan dispares como Turquía, Georgia, Armenia, Rusia, Ucrania, Rumania, Bulgaria y Grecia. Reconstruye además ante nosotros un microcosmos a partir de apuntes antropológicos e investigaciones arqueológicas, sin olvidar contarnos inolvidables historias individuales de gentes de todos los tiempos, como la de un oscuro orador griego del siglo II o la de un fascinante espía polaco en tiempos del auge nacionalista del siglo XIX

RODOLF SIRERA

Constatar que Rodolf Sirera és l'autor teatral valencià més important de les darreres dècades, no és dir res sorprenent. Sí que ho és, però, que la seua obra no haja motivat encara una anàlisi rigorosa i en profunditat. Per a suplir aquesta carència, la producció teatral de Rodolf Sirera ha estat el tema central del seminari que, per vuité any consecutiu, s'ha celebrat dins l'Encontre de Teatre a l'Estiu d'Alzira. Acostar-se de veritat a aquest autor, tan proper geogràficament i, alhora, tan oblidat pels estudis crítics, és una necessitat que aquesta publicació pot pal·liar.Amb aquesta intenció oferim diferents visions actuals sobre Rodolf Sirera i la seua obra: des de l'experiència de directors d'escena (Emilio Hernández i Vicent Genovés) a l'estudi crític global (Rafael del Rosario Pérez). També s'hi contemplen aspectes com la seua col·laboració en la redacció d'algunes obres (Josep Lluís Sirera), l'acollida que ha tingut la producció del nostre autor a Catalunya (Enric Gallén), la visió general sobre el món sirerià (Enrique Herreras) o la utilització didàctica que se n'ha fet d'obres com El verí del teatre (Roser Santolària). Només cal desitjar que aquesta llavor faça brotar altres visions que desvelen algunes de les diferents possibilitats que encara guarda una creació teatral tan rica.

A lo largo de las páginas de este libro cobran vida la personalidad y el pensamiento de P. A. Baran. “El presente libro -dice P. M. Sweezy en la introducción- no pretende limitarse a tributar nuestro respeto al recuerdo de un amigo querido, de un pensador creador y de una personalidad única. Quisiéramos ir más lejos, desearíamos que su ejemplo e ideas cobraran vida ante quienes no tuvieron la fortuna de tratarlo cuando vivía”. Baran: el hombre y su obra contiene una selección de trabajos del autor de La política económica del crecimiento, entre los que destaca su artículo “El compromiso del intelectual” que fue su credo. A estos trabajos sigue el recuerdo personal de su íntimo colaborador P. M. Sweezy, al que acompaña una selección epistolar. Harry Magdoff, uno de los amigos más queridos de Baran, sintetiza su pensamiento político y económico. El libro concluye con una completa bibliografía preparada por E. Osausen.
