La potent indústria farmacèutica catalana, tot un referent europeu de la innovació, té un dels seus representants més notoris en la família Uriach, al capdavant d'un grup empresarial iniciat en una petita adrogueria barcelonina. En aquest establiment, el 1838 hi va començar a treballar el fundador de l'empresa familiar. Aquel día el gobierno se atrinchera en el Palacio de La Moneda que es atacado con tanques y cazabombarderos. Lo que ocurrió en esas horas dentro del Palacio de La Moneda es relatado por un testigo excepcional de aquellos dramáticos momentos. El doctor Óscar Soto ha escrito una crónica irrebatible.
