Las siglas ECyD, proponen un camino de Encuentros, Convicciones y Decisiones para cualquier adolescente que quiera vivir esta etapa de su vida con ganas, con todas sus consecuencias. El ECyD es el camino que propone el Regnum Crhisti para acompañar a los adolescentes. Sin apartar nuestra mirada del corazón del adolescente, de sus necesidades más profundas, queremos descubrir qué sentido tiene el ECyD, cuál debería ser su misión y cómo podría ser esa respuesta adecuada que nos pide Benedicto XVI para el adolescente de hoy. Este libro es un cuaderno historiografiado, lleno de vivencias y reflexiones desde la propia experiencia, y no una mera exposición de ideas fruto de un ejercicio intelectual. Aprender a fuego busca respuestas al misterio del sufrimiento en el ser humano a través del estudio de la obra narrativa de la escritora americana Flannery O'Connor (1935-1964). Tras realizar un breve recorrido por la vida de la autora, se pasa a analizar sus novelas (Sangre sabia y Los profetas) y sus relatos. A lo largo de este ensayo, el lector se enfrentará a través de los personajes de O'Connor, con los diversos tipos de sufrimiento que pueden aparecer en la vida del hombre y las distintas actitudes con las que cada ser humano responde ante estas realidades. Una búsqueda de sentido ante el sufrimiento, que provoca en el lector una apertura a un misterio que le supera.
