LA TRAGEDIA, LOS GRIEGOS Y NOSOTROS

La ambigüedad moral y las contradicciones, la corrupción del poder, el carácter como motor de nuestras acciones, la responsabilidad personal… son cuestiones que nos importan mucho hoy, tanto como en la Antigüedad. De ahí que este ensayo atemporal y provocador no trate, en realidad, sobre la tragedia griega. Los dilemas que más nos preocupan no tendrán tanto que ver con la actualidad o la modernidad si ya se representaban en los teatros clásicos. Incluso personajes como el protagonista de Breaking Bad encontrarían estimulantes aquellas representaciones. Simon Critchley nos muestra de qué modo dramaturgos como Sófocles o Esquilo, pero también filósofos como Sócrates y Aristóteles, pueden servirnos de espejo. Gracias a su prosa irónica y desenfadada comprobamos que aquellos clásicos pueden llegar a ser los más posmodernos al invitarnos a convivir con la incertidumbre, y no a combatirla.

CIENCIA Y REALIDAD (1945-1946)

El curso de Xavier Zubiri sobre "Ciencia y realidad" (1945-1946) representa un importantísimo hito en el desarrollo intelectual del filósofo. Es el primero de la larga serie de "cursos extrauniversitarios" en los cuales Zubiri fue exponiendo su pensamiento hasta el final de sus días. Además, este curso se sitúa justo en el inicio de lo que Zubiri consideraba la etapa definitiva de su evolución filosófica, la etapa "estrictamente metafísica", en la que sostendrá la prioridad de la realidad respecto al ser. Para el filósofo vasco, la metafísica no es el estudio de lo que está "más allá" de la física, sino el estudio de la realidad misma, como objeto propio de la filosofía. De ahí la íntima vinculación entre la filosofía y las ciencias. Pocos filósofos contemporáneos han sido capaces de integrar como Zubiri las ciencias naturales en su propio proyecto intelectual. Este curso es una buena muestra de esa integración. Los extraordinarios conocimientos de Zubiri en física, matemática, biología y ciencias humanas forman parte de un ejercicio original y apasionante de creación filosófica, que el lector puede disfrutar ahora por vez primera.
