Historia

Las 650 cartas que presenta Enrique Otte fueron halladas en el Archivo General de Indias en Sevilla. Escritas de 1540 a 1616, estas cartas las enviaron los inmigrantes españoles residentes en la Nueva España y Perú a parientes en la península. En ellas contaban su vida, sus finanzas, aventuras y su salud, presentando una buena pintura de los comienzos de la vida colonial.

Panorama completo de la historia guatemalteca a partir de la Conquista española y, sobre todo, de la Independencia, en 1821, hasta la actualidad. Si bien se hace hincapié en los procesos políticos, no se descuida lo social, lo económico y lo cultural.
