Los Cervantes de Alcalá nacen de la pasión de su autor por Alcalá de Henares y por los personajes secundarios que pueblan los escritos cervantinos. El germen del libro hay que buscarlo en cinco artículos publicados en el semanario complutense Puerta de Alcalá en 1988. Y como dice el propio autor: Inicié entonces, pronto hará diez años, una andadura con mis paisanos. De la curiosidad pasé al interés y de éste a la admiración. Y en ese camino me gustaría, lector, que me acompañaras. Cervantes, los Cervantes, no se acaban nunca, aunque bien es verdad que después de los Rodríguez Marín, Pérez Pastor y, sobre todo Astrana Marín, parece imposible hallar nuevos datos, encontrar nuevos hechos. Y, sin embargo, multitud de aspectos de los Cervantes quedan pendientes de descubrir o de aclarar, pues con frecuencia sus vidas están pobladas de zonas de penumbra y aún de oscuridad que parecen hacerles inabarcables, y cada vez más apasionantes. Ése, y no otro, es el propósito de este trabajo. Interesar al hipotético lector por los personajes, llamemos secundarios, de esa obra fascinante que es la vida de los Cervantes, y especialmente por los nacidos en Alcalá: el padre, Rodrigo; los hermanos, Andrea, Luisa y Rodrigo, paisanos todos ellos de Miguel quien, desde su grandeza, les alumbra y les oscurece.
INTRODUCCIÓN A BRECHT
Los ensayos recogidos en este libro, escritos desde distintas perspectivas críticas (del psicoanálisis a la semiótica, de la estilística a la teoría de discursos), constituyen un estudio introductorio a la figura y la obra de Bertolt Brecht, un clásico del siglo xx. El conjunto de artículos se inicia con dos trabajos sobre la Alemania pre-hitleriana y un riguroso panorama del contexto histórico en el que vivió el escritor alemán. Los grandes textos teatrales de Brecht, Madre Coraje y sus hijos, Vida de Galileo o La ópera de cuatro cuartos, así como su poesía, son minuciosamente analizados estableciendo interpretaciones originales, y aportando numerosos datos de carácter documental. También se estudia la práctica de Brecht en el Berliner Ensemble, sus escritos teóricos y los conceptos fundamentales que articuló en su teatro: gestus, extrañamiento, epicidad. y además el trabajo musical que realizó con diferentes compositores, como Kurt Weill, Hanns Eisler o Paul Dessau, sus diseños escénicos y su relación con escenógrafos como Caspar Neher, la teoría y la práctica de la interpretación actoral en su obra y la influencia que su escritura y su pensamiento han tenido sobre otros dramaturgos, para la sociedad y para el arte. El libro incluye un amplio cuadro cronológico, una completa bibliografía de y sobre el autor, así como una pormenorizada relación de puestas en escena de obras de Brecht realizadas en España.
