Rudyard Kipling was born in Bombay, India,?in 1865, where his father was Principal and?Professor of Architectural Sculpture at an art?school. Kipling?s early years in India inspired?much of his literary work, including The?Jungle Book, which is a collection of stories,?rather than a single narrative. The first three?of these stories??Mowgli?s Brothers,? ?Kaa?s?Hunting,? and ?Tiger! Tiger!??are the basis?for the Disney movie that used the name of?the entire book.This bilingual edition is designed to assist?those learning French. The original English?text appears on the left-hand pages of the?book, with the corresponding French translation?on the right-hand pages.

A veces unos versos, leídos en la juventud, te acompañan toda la vida; o leídos en la madurez, te permiten entender la noche ya lejana de tu juventud. A muchos les ha ocurrido con este poema. Dicen que Kipling lo escribió para enseñarle a vivir a su hijo. También dicen que le inspiraron las virtudes y las decisiones vitales de un amigo, una suerte de estoico guerrillero a la británica. Es probable que los grandes del estoicismo de ahora y siempre Marco Aurelio, Montaigne, Thoreau lo hubieran leído y releído. Habla sobre la fortaleza, la templanza, la perseverancia, la paciencia y la presencia. Ésta no es la primera edición en castellano de este poema, pero seguramente es la más bella.
