Ciertamente, en algunas variantes del castellano las consonantes «s, z, c» o «ll, y» pueden plantear problemas de cierta magnitud, pero nada comparable con el complejo panorama que presenta, ante el lector no nativo, la interpretación fonémica del inglés escrito. Esta obra muestra al lector interesado aspectos poco estudiados de la relación entre letras vocálicas y sonidos vocálicos del inglés, ofreciendo un conjunto de reglas, tablas de analogías y principios que rigen, de modos distintos y con distintos grados de regularidad, buena parte de estas correspondencias. No se trata de una obra estrictamente divulgativa no es un manual sino de un estudio sistemático de correspondencias grafo-fonémicas.
