MEMORIAS DE UNA ENANA (DE LA MARE, WALTER)
La que fuera calificada como «única novela surrealista inglesa» constituye una rara joya dentro de la singular obra de un escritor tan particular e inclasificable como Walter de la Mare (1873-1956). Además de un fino talento para la poesía, De la Mare fue un excelente narrador, maestro en el campo del relato etéreo y de atmósfera, con clara preferencia por los temas fantásticos y evanescentes, la infancia y el mundo de los sueños. Nacido en Charlton (Kent), publicó su primer libro de poemas, Songs of Childhood (1902), bajo el seudónimo de Walter Ramal. Dos años más tarde probó fortuna con una primera novela de escaso éxito, Henry Brocken, a la que años después seguiría The Return (1910), que ganó el premio Polignac. Con Memorias de una enana (1921), fantasía poética tan lúcida como enigmática, su elegante prosa alcanza sus cotas más elevadas.
