JOSEP M. CASTELLET. . RETRAT DE PERSONATGE EN GRUP (MUÑOZ LLORET, TERESA)

Josep Maria Castellet ha tingut un paper destacat en la vida cultural catalana i espanyola de la segona meitat del segle XX. Almenys durant quaranta anys (de la dècada dels cinquanta fins a la dècada dels vuitanta), va participar activament en un seguit d?empreses de molta importància, en la seva condició polifacètica de crític literari, intel?lectual i editor. La seva obra comprèn assaigs com La hora del lector (1957), Iniciació a la poesia de Salvador Espriu (1971) o Josep Pla o la raó narrativa (1978), antologies de tanta transcendència com Veinte años de poesía española (1960), Poesia catalana del segle XX(1963, amb Joaquim Molas) o Nueve novísimos poetas españoles (1970), i un llibre autobiogràfic tan remarcable com Els escenaris de la memòria (1988). Però, més enllà d?això, Castellet s?ha implicat en projectes que van des de la fundació de la revista Laye fins al Pacte Cultural de la transició, passant per l?homenatge a Antonio Machado del 1959, el Congrés per la Llibertat de la Cultura, els diálogos Catalunya-Castella, la Comunitat Europea d?Escriptors, els premis internacionals de literatura Formentor, l?Associació d?Escriptors en Llengua Catalana o Edicions 62.En aquest retrat biogràfic de Josep M. Castellet, Teresa Muñoz en ressegueix pas a pas la trajectòria pública, fins al final de la dècada dels vuitanta, sense entrar en la seva vida personal. Com que Castellet sempre s?ha mogut en grup, el retrat pren cos a través de la descripció i la contextualització dels diversos nuclis de relació que, a Catalunya, a Espanya i a Europa, han pautat la seva evolució intel?lectual. Per això, a més d?un estudi indispensable de la tasca i l?obra de Josep M. Castellet, aquest volum és també una contribució important a la història de la cultura contemporània, que aporta informacions inèdites sobre algunes activitats fins ara molt poc conegudes, com el Congrés de Cultura Catalana clandestí del 1964.Teresa Muñoz Lloret (Barcelona, 1958) és llicenciada en Filologia Catalana. Treballa com a professora de Llengua i Literatura Catalanes a l?Institut Pere Calders de Cerdanyola del Vallès. Ha publicat estudis sobre literatura contemporània, en el camp de la narrativa (El conte des de 1968) i en el del teatre (Cinc peces en un acte, d?Emili Vilanova a Joan Oliver), i ha tingut cura de l?edició de textos (L?hostal de la Glòria, de Josep M. de Sagarra), entrevistes (de Mercè Rodoreda a Clarisme, 1933-1934) i correspondència (entre J. Ernest Martínez Ferrando i Hermínia Grau). Per a la redacció d?aquest ?retrat de personatge en grup? ha tingut llargues converses amb Josep M. Castellet, a qui ja havia entrevistat prèviament en dues ocasions, per a una revista catalana i una d?italiana.

Aquesta biografia de Tomàs Garcés pretén abastar tots els aspectes de la seva vida i de la seva obra com a escriptor, advocat, professor a l'exili, traductor, promotor cultural, periodista, etc. Tanmateix els aspectes literaris hi són predominants perquè el poeta, que algú ha anomenat "el benjamí dels noucentistes", acapara bona part de l'horitzó biogràfic. Com a advocat, Garcés va sobresortir per la seva ciència jurídica i la seva ètica; com a periodista va publicar més de mil articles, sobretot al diari La Publicitat. Alhora va ser íntim amic i orientador de dos poetes ben diferents: Joan Salvat-Papasseit i Josep-Sebastià Pons. Garcés va passar de puntetes per l'avantguarda i, entrant en el neopopulisme, va evolucionar cap a un postsimbolisme molt personal, cristal·lí i madur. Cal no oblidar els seus assaigs i la crítica literària, que en part són el reflex de la seva sensibilitat poètica la qual el va dur també a ser un bon traductor de lírics italians i gallecs.
