Garry L. Jones is a former U.S. Department of Justice employee. Jones attended North Carolina Central University, earning a B.A. in Criminal Justice. He retired from the Federal Bureau of Prisons as a Senior Lieutenant, after working 16 years for both federal and state prison facilities. ?

El mundo en el que vive la humanidad actual no se parece en nada al que conocieron nuestros antepasados. La avalancha de descubrimientos científicos y técnicos, las convulsiones políticas y socioeconómicas, empiezan a cuestionar todas las escalas de valores, como si se tratara de un cataclismo de dimensiones universales. ¿De qué manera enfrentarse a todo eso? ¿Cómo sobrevivir en un medio en el que el hombre y la mujer contemporáneos se encuentran cada vez más perdidos? Hay una sola posibilidad: debemos aprender a pensar. Y, para eso, antes hay que aprender a aprender. Este libro apareció por primera vez en 1977 y, dos años más tarde, el fallecido José Luis Guarner, crítico cinematográfico y autor de un libro sobre Rossellini, abordó la versión castellana, que es la que presentamos aquí, añadiendo cinco anexos estrechamente relacionados con el tema. Sea como fuere, el libro se estaba convirtiendo ya en un clásico indiscutible, precisamente por su capacidad visionaria respecto a la evolución del mundo contemporáneo. Roberto Rossellini, tras una fulgurante carrera como cineasta, había decidido poner por escrito sus reflexiones, producto de una práctica profesional de más de treinta años, y acabó creando un método educativo completamente nuevo, que combina la filosofía científica y las técnicas audiovisuales en un sistema integrado. El resultado es una obra mayor que va más allá del ámbito de la imagen pero, a la vez, lo considera una herramienta imprescindible para una regeneración moral cada vez más necesaria.
