El libro que tienes en las manos, estimado lector, estimada lectora, viene a poner un poco de luz en este complejo y multifacético fenómeno que condiciona, probablemente más que ningún otro, los procesos de enseñanza y aprendizaje. Los diez capítulos del libro tienen una fuerte cohesión (aunque diferentes estilos), ya que las autoras y autores comparten filosofía, amistad y un acendrado compromiso con la actividad docente. En algunos capítulos se hace referencia a la práctica evaluadora que las autoras y autores están realizando. Resulta importante escribir sobre la práctica, porque el pensamiento errático y caótico que solemos tener acerca de la misma, al escribir, debe someterse al rigor de la estructura y de la argumentación. Y, por otra parte, al difundirlo, ofrece a los demás un aporte de ideas, experiencias e ilusiones.
